E14: Team Academy for Veterans w Special Guest Lukas Lovett

E14 Introduction

Hello listeners and thank you for tuning into The American Pulse. There are few things more American than service to our country. We would have no nation without our soldiers, past and present and we would have no nation without the fighting spirit that is America. It is as vital to our history and our future as our love of freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Yet, so many of the young people that have gallantly served our great nation are forgotten once they have served their purpose. This seems strange to me. The very people (men and women) who have been trained to be mentally and physically their toughest are then left to drift. And this drift without clear direction or mission leads more often than we know, to depression, suicide, and homelessness.

Whenever an important phase in life is complete (like military service) and a new one has not yet begun, it is often experienced as a dark night of the Soul. A death of identity and purpose. And you need good people to help shine the light as it can often be difficult to find it on your own.

My guest today saw all this and created something with veterans in mind. Let’s go chat with him about these things.Enjoy the interview.

Lukas Lovett Bio

E274: Basecamp Classic w Paul Dunion

E274 Introduction

Today’s episode is a Basecamp Classic, meaning a replay of a top shelf episode from seasons past. I try to keep these to only 4 or 5 a year. I like to use them whenever we are a little low on content. I have a bunch of good interviews coming up but needed something this week. Plus for the new listeners, you may have missed a few gems from back in the day.

This episode is a really good one. It’s from all the way back to season two. The original title was E 46: Wisdom for Uncertain Times w Special Guest Paul Dunion. It is a fitting theme for today, the episode holds up well all these years later, and Paul has always been one of my favorite guests to interview. You genuinely feel you are sitting around the fire with a true master. Enjoy this Basecamp Classic.

E273: Men and the Soul’s Journey

E273 Introduction

Today’s episode is both a new wrinkle and a bit of a throwback. I am being interviewed by Beth Marten, which is something we don’t often feature here on Basecamp, me on the other side of the interview.

Yet, it also a throwback to earlier days here on Basecamp as Beth and I get into men’s work, male initiation, the archetypal Hero, and why the journey of the Soul is so important for humans.

E273 Final Thoughts

Well, I hope you enjoyed that conversation. I love sitting on the other side of the interview, especially when I get someone I really jive with like Beth. If you like her stuff as much as I do, go subscribe to her excellent podcast The King Hero’s Journey.

E10: Praying for Bob Ferguson

E10 Introduction

Hello listeners and thank you for tuning into The American Pulse. How are you all holding up? It seems we are living in truly historic times and it feels like we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg, so far. Are you sensing the same thing?

We have a great guest today, a woman who offered a great perspective to me off air and I asked her to record something with me so we could share it all with you. Before we get to it, I wanted to share a few memes with you to tee it up.

RFK Jr has cancelled the CDC’s flu shot campaign saying “If you get the flu shot, you will probably avoid the flu, but it makes you 4.4 times more likely to get another illness because the shot damages your immune system.”

From RFK Jr. “Five states-Texas, Utah, Kansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana –suing Pfizer for knowing and concealing the vaccine causing myocarditis, pericarditis, failed pregnancies, and deaths. That is 10 percent of US States. The tide is turning

Fromm the vile Texan who says “The US Treasury can’t track $4.7 trillion in payments. Medicare sent $2.7 trillion overseas to people that weren’t eligible. Pentagon lost track $2.5 trillion dollars. Social Security sends $100 billion a year to people with no identity. Dept of Education spends $50 billion a year to make your kids transgender.” Aho!

And on a smaller scale, I saw DOGE just cancelled a 16-year monthly payment of $11,000 to Michelle Obama for “White House Garden Maintenance.” I didn’t realize Michelle was still such a valuable member of the White House groundcrew. Oh wait, the garden was removed in 2017. Oh man. What a sham DC is.

And speaking of shammy gov’t entities, From C3, “So it turns out that just about everyone in DC is funneling taxpayer dollars to their spouses NGO or non-profit or firm… in which Elon Musk simply replies “yes”.

Let‘s get to our sponsor and our guest, an American with a unique background and real wisdom for all of us in these rapidly shifting times we live in.

Amber Cantu Bio

My guest today is Amber Cantu. Amber is a mother, a Christian, and the 6th generation granddaughter of Chief Seattle. Today, we catch up with American Amber Cantu. Enjoy the interview.

E10 Final Thoughts

I hope you enjoyed that chat as much as I did. The King County GOP has a rockin’ new website thanks to the amazing Jack Spence. Go to www.kcgop.org to get yourself plugged into what is happening in our county and go sign up for the Lincoln Day dinner on Saturday May 3rd at Salty’s on Alki. This is our annual Fundraising Gala and we will all be there and so will Keynote speaker James Dixon. It is way for everyday people like yourselves to make a difference with a reborn organization that is alignment with your American values. Go sign up and I will see you there.

E272: Getting Out of Our Bubbles w Special Guest Jennifer Galardi

E272 Introduction

It is one of the things that mark the times. This Great Awakening. Where something that you thought was solid turns out to be a castle made of sand. This awakening is hitting every ideological group all over the world. The irony is that it seems that the more each group feels they are safe, the sooner that this transformative wave hits their so-called safe haven.

What is each camp being asked to wrestle with? There is certainly a high road to shoot for but that does not mean there is not uncomfortable truths or difficulties navigating this culture war. Far from it.

I have spoken about this many times before but I think it bears repeating. The times are requiring a lightness and nimbleness that we have not been too accustomed to. To be heavy with righteousness or ego or anger will not serve us.

For example, many people said foolish things over the pandemic. Present company included. Some were sure that the jabs were going to save us all. They were wrong, obviously. We don’t need to rub their noses in it, as long as they are honest and not trying to save face saying they were never like that. You were. We saved your old tweets and posts and text messages. Let’s move on.

I believe that as fast as things seem to be moving now, my sense is that something even more accelerated is just on the horizon. And I am not talking about a horizon of years but a horizon of weeks and a few months. We all have some hunches and instincts and inner knowing about what this might mean. But if this Great Awakening has taught us anything, it’s that God does indeed work and move in mysterious ways.

I am personally filled with gratitude for being on this journey with you all. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be gathering my thoughts each week with a microphone (now two microphones with The American Pulse) and checking in with you.

There will be many revelations and “ah-ha’s) in the coming days and my hope and prayer for you and your loved ones is that they are at a speed that you can integrate and make sense of. We will be here on Basecamp looking for the common ground, the Truth, and the uplifting, inspiring narrative that will take us to our shared ,bright future. Thank you Basecampers and I wish you all Godspeed and alignment.
