E274: Basecamp Classic w Paul Dunion

E274 Introduction

Today’s episode is a Basecamp Classic, meaning a replay of a top shelf episode from seasons past. I try to keep these to only 4 or 5 a year. I like to use them whenever we are a little low on content. I have a bunch of good interviews coming up but needed something this week. Plus for the new listeners, you may have missed a few gems from back in the day.

This episode is a really good one. It’s from all the way back to season two. The original title was E 46: Wisdom for Uncertain Times w Special Guest Paul Dunion. It is a fitting theme for today, the episode holds up well all these years later, and Paul has always been one of my favorite guests to interview. You genuinely feel you are sitting around the fire with a true master. Enjoy this Basecamp Classic.

E273: Men and the Soul’s Journey

E273 Introduction

Today’s episode is both a new wrinkle and a bit of a throwback. I am being interviewed by Beth Marten, which is something we don’t often feature here on Basecamp, me on the other side of the interview.

Yet, it also a throwback to earlier days here on Basecamp as Beth and I get into men’s work, male initiation, the archetypal Hero, and why the journey of the Soul is so important for humans.

E273 Final Thoughts

Well, I hope you enjoyed that conversation. I love sitting on the other side of the interview, especially when I get someone I really jive with like Beth. If you like her stuff as much as I do, go subscribe to her excellent podcast The King Hero’s Journey.

E272: Getting Out of Our Bubbles w Special Guest Jennifer Galardi

E272 Introduction

It is one of the things that mark the times. This Great Awakening. Where something that you thought was solid turns out to be a castle made of sand. This awakening is hitting every ideological group all over the world. The irony is that it seems that the more each group feels they are safe, the sooner that this transformative wave hits their so-called safe haven.

What is each camp being asked to wrestle with? There is certainly a high road to shoot for but that does not mean there is not uncomfortable truths or difficulties navigating this culture war. Far from it.

I have spoken about this many times before but I think it bears repeating. The times are requiring a lightness and nimbleness that we have not been too accustomed to. To be heavy with righteousness or ego or anger will not serve us.

For example, many people said foolish things over the pandemic. Present company included. Some were sure that the jabs were going to save us all. They were wrong, obviously. We don’t need to rub their noses in it, as long as they are honest and not trying to save face saying they were never like that. You were. We saved your old tweets and posts and text messages. Let’s move on.

I believe that as fast as things seem to be moving now, my sense is that something even more accelerated is just on the horizon. And I am not talking about a horizon of years but a horizon of weeks and a few months. We all have some hunches and instincts and inner knowing about what this might mean. But if this Great Awakening has taught us anything, it’s that God does indeed work and move in mysterious ways.

I am personally filled with gratitude for being on this journey with you all. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be gathering my thoughts each week with a microphone (now two microphones with The American Pulse) and checking in with you.

There will be many revelations and “ah-ha’s) in the coming days and my hope and prayer for you and your loved ones is that they are at a speed that you can integrate and make sense of. We will be here on Basecamp looking for the common ground, the Truth, and the uplifting, inspiring narrative that will take us to our shared ,bright future. Thank you Basecampers and I wish you all Godspeed and alignment.

E271: The Real Estate Implications of BTC with Special Guest

Leon Wankum

E271 Introduction

There seems to be a parallel timeline running. One one track is the destruction of the old guard with all the old, corrupt systems. Fueled by endless money printing that debases your purchasing power more and more each and every year with no end in sight.

In many ways the WHOLE SYSTEM has been plugged into this matrix. You see it everywhere you look. The media reflects it, the health care system reflects it, the education system reflects it and the governments of the world perpetuate it to benefit the oligarchs, institutions, and politicians closest to the money printer. For the rest of us, life is just getting more and more expensive.

Then suddenly, Bitcoin entered the story and everything looked, well, different. For those that start storing value in Bitcoin, everything is getting CHEAPER. Yep, you heard that right. Cars are cheaper, vacations are cheaper, and houses are cheaper. As in each and every year, things are getting more affordable for Bitcoiners. Kind of mind-blowing isn’t it? Why is that? Well, because there is true scarcity as in there will only ever be 21 million bitcoin. Even as the adoption curve continues to climb and more and more companies and nation-states hold more and more of it, there will never be more than 21 million.

There are some people that have plenty of fiat money and don’t care about things getting cheaper. They can afford whatever things are going to cost. But for LOTS OF PEOPLE, life is too expensive and this creates an enormous amount of stress. People are losing time because they have to work so hard. Are you following me?

Bitcoin allows you freedom. Freedom to work less, freedom to imagine a different future, freedom to enjoy more of your time because costs are coming DOWN for you and your loved ones. It’s a compelling argument, isn’t it?

How will this impact real estate and home ownership? I’m glad you asked! My guest today is a thought leader in the areas of real estate and Bitcoin. One of the only people I know of with such an expertise. How will Bitcoin (other than making houses much cheaper for you to buy), impact the housing and commercial real estate markets? Let’s go have a chat and find out. Enjoy the episode.

Leon Wankum Bio

My guest is Leon Wankum. Leon is a writer, a soon-to-be author and a leader at the intersection of Bitcoin and Real Estate, something we talk at length about today. Here is my interview with Leon Wankum.

E270: Freedom, Sunshine, and Steak w Special Guest Ben Wehrman

E270 Introduction

One of the things that we have been tasked with, you and I, is to consider and, when appropriate, to adopt new ways of seeing things. We have been given so many false notions in so many areas: gov’t, education, media, and health, for instance.

The best we can do, imho, is to keep an open mind. Continue to look for ideas and people that uplift and inspire you. For they are your fellow travellers in this great awakening we are experiencing.

Humanity seems to be emerging from the fog of deception. Our antennas is getting more sharply attuned to Truth. The more the Truth comes to Light, the more confident we become in our path and in ourselves and one another.

What are some of these new ideas that are emerging that can help elevate us? We will cover much of this and more today with a man that I have had the great fortune to connect with. This could easily be two men sitting around the campfire talking far and wide about our shared future.

Before we get to the episode, I wanted to read two memes for you that I think will help tee this one up.. One from my guests website a quote from the writer Timothy Ferris:

The specialist spends decades making incremental improvements, while the curious generalist consistently measures improvement in quantum leaps.”

And finally, one from my own website. “Truth is also seeking the Seeker.

Enjoy the episode.

Ben Wehrman Bio

My guest today is Ben Wehrman. Ben is a fellow seeker of truth, a photographer, a digital nomad, writer and podcaster. Here is my interview with Ben Wehrman.

E270 Final Thoughts

I hope you enjoyed that conversation as much as I did. I love it when I am learning new things and new perspectives from the guest in real time. I will be experimenting with this carnivore diet. Just need to figure out when and what that looks like. Might need to get some buy-in from my wife to really make this a do-able experiment. I will keep you posted. Thank you Basecampers and we’ll see you around the fire next week.
